-- Reviews by the Famous and well Known
Aura is a term now permanently ingrained in the English speaking vocabulary. The various definitions range from the more spiritually focused concerning “energy emanations” and “etheric substances” to the more medical such as “seizure or migraine warnings.” What is obvious is that whilst New Age practices promote its importance in healing and in assessing the emotional or spiritual state of a person, science has a very different view. There are possible natural explanations that are to do with retinal fatigue and the aforementioned epileptic seizures or onset of migraines and even fraud. In addition, a perfectly logical account exists for Kirlian photography. What Billy does in the following words is to give you the spiritual side to auras. He combines his personal experiences with ‘how to’ instructions and the essence of auras in such seemingly disparate supernatural phenomena as OBEs and astrology. In addition, there is frequent mention of historical precursors to auras (e.g. Native American Indian, religious saints etc). It is due to this historical context and the personal insight that I thought it appropriate to write a foreword. For, even though I favour the more skeptical explanations for auras and aura readings it is imperative that the reader is given ample knowledge to be able to question. Knowing that the fundamental message here is that it is all based on Billy’s personal experiences and that you, too, can try it for yourself, means that it is a book of research. Although the research method would not stand up to rigorous scrutiny by the scientific community, before we dismiss the aura out of hand it is worthwhile mentioning recent cognitive neuropsychological research into the link between synaesthesia and auras. Synaesthesia is a condition in which stimulation of one sense produces a response in one or more of the other sense (e.g. synaesthetics may experiences smells with sounds). One condition is known as ‘emotion color synaesthesia’. As you take the following journey of factual and experiential discovery constantly ask the question, does science hold the answer or are auras truly a spiritual phenomena?

WELL WRITTEN AND INTERESTING. I thought the referral to science as well as spirit is an excellent idea, especially in this fragile market. Excercises also are clear and well written. Yet another book that confirms and proves the importance of the chakras, their colours and their meanings. I shall reccomend it to my students.

The world is a fascinating place, and one of the Greek philosophers once said that, “The more we know, the more we know how little we know.” This isn’t helped by the fact that the scores of indigenous cultures around the world all explain the mysteries of our planet in their own way. For the novice seeker after truth, this can be confusing.
In The Magic of the Aura, Billy Roberts makes the task a lot easier by harmoniously combining many of the world’s spiritual philosophies in his study of the aura – one of the most misunderstood and enigmatic subjects of our time.
Roberts describes the aura as a “vaporous mass of electromagnetic particles surrounding both animate and inanimate matter. It is, in fact, an energy field of an extremely subtle nature.” Superficially this doesn’t sound too exciting, but what makes Roberts’ book fascinating is the way in which the author clinically explains not only what the aura is and how to detect it, but also how it can be used to heal disease and effect a positive transformation in just about every aspect of one’s life.
Billy Roberts’ reputation as a medium is legendary, but I was still sceptical. Maybe it’s the journalist in me, but although I’ve written about unconventional forms of spirituality and the paranormal for decades “auras” never really did it for me. Then I tried a number of the experiments the author gives in his book and was stunned to find that they really do work. In one, which involves pressing the palms of your hands together, I ended up getting a spectacular result and giggled like a child afterwards.
Well written and researched, The Magic of the Aura is a comprehensive guide to everything you need to know about this subject. It would be great if Billy Roberts wrote a follow-up to this book. Mind you, I’m not sure what he’d put in it as the first one covers just about everything.
Don’t miss this gem of a book of you want to broaden your horizons.
