-- Reviews by the Famous and well Known
I am privileged to be asked to write the foreword to this book, compiled by my friend Chris Cowlin and co-compiler Kevin Snelgrove.
Doncaster Rovers was my first professional club and I played with some very good players and characters. Names such as Ian Branfoot, John (nutty) Hazelden, Mike Elwiss, Peter Kitchen, Steve Uzelac, Stan Brookes and Terry Curran spring to mind. My first Manager was Maurice Setters and he loved his young players with no fear of giving them a chance at first team level. I enjoyed my time at a well supported club in a fanatical football area and by the time I left the club after nearly five years I could just about understand and decipher that Yorkshire accent … not bad for a scouser!
I was very proud when I returned to my first professional club as the Manager. It was at a difficult time in the Conference that I jumped into the hot seat and the job was taxing to say the least. I would have liked to have been the man who brought League Football back to Belle Vue but it wasn't to be, although I still feel that I contributed to the achievement a season later after my departure.
Good luck to everyone involved with the club and may Doncaster Rovers continue to progress at its fantastic new stadium.
This book is an absolute must for all Rovers fans and gave me hours of fun and provoked some wonderful memories. Test your knowledge and maybe even learn a few more things about the Doncaster Rovers Football Club along the way!
I am sure you will enjoy this book as much as I did!

A great book for Donny fans, this would make a great present regardless of age.

I thought I knew my Rovers history but this tested it to the limit and will be a great addition to any Rovers fans book shelf. A great book for the long trips around the country.

This book brought all the memories back and makes you think back. I found it tested my knowledge of the years I have been here as Chairman and as a supporter.

FORMER BOSS BACK IN TOWN
EX-Doncaster Rovers player and manager Steve Wignall returned to his former stomping ground to unveil his autobiography.
Steve visited the Keepmoat Stadium to sign copies of his life story entitled You Can Have Chips.
Born in Liverpool, the centre back failed to secure an apprenticeship with Liverpool as a 16-year-old. He rejected going on to further education in favour of signing for Rovers as an apprentice in 1972.
After making 142 appearances for the club he signed for Colchester United in 1977.
Having played more than 700 games as a professional, which also included spells at Aldershot and Brentford, Steve became a manager.
Following a stint as boss of Colchester he was appointed manager of Rovers in 2000 before being replaced by his assistant Dave Penney in 2002.
Joining him at the Keepmoat book signing session was Chris Cowlin who compiled the Official Doncaster Rovers Quiz Book, for which Steve wrote the foreword.

Great grey matters of fact! A right royal Rovers romp through Donny delights and despair, this brain-bashing book is a tricky tough-tackling extra-time teaser.
