The Dream Fight is a good novel that could make a great film one day. It is the story of a sports reporter who, as part of his efforts to give up smoking, finds an unusual way to find the answer to what has been a question many of us in professional boxing have hypothesised - just who was the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time?
In my career as a boxing promoter and events organiser, I have worked with and become friends with some of the all-time greats. Philip Solomon is also a good friend and it is clear in this book that not only does he have a good knowledge of professional boxing, but he has put in a great deal of time researching the history of the sport and the life of a boxing feature writer.
It is a book that is certainly thought-provoking, very funny in parts and yet sad at times too, the perfect ingredients really for a fascinating read and I have been more than happy to write this foreword for my good pal, Philip's book.
