-- Reviews by the Famous and well Known
I really enjoyed testing my knowledge of the game with John’s Book. He certainly knows how to word a question, fool you into thinking you know the answer and then making you doubt your original decision. Whether you play the game or an armchair fan, then this is the Book for you. Test your own knowledge of the Sport and if you think you know almost everything then give the Expert Section in the Book a try.

I must admit that I really liked this book and not just because I was able to answer quite a few of the questions. The Book is so easy to follow and contains many interesting topics. It is written by a tennis fan for tennis fans. But don't be fooled into thinking you know most things there is to know about tennis because you may just get double faulted in the Book's Expert Section.

If it is a Quiz Book about tennis you are looking for then this is definitely the one you want. It contains 1,500 questions on just all there is to know about the game from the past players to the Grand Slam events to the stars of today. I was particularly delighted to see a Section about myself and luckily I got them all right.
Jan Kodes, Wimbledon Men’s Singles Champion 1973

John’s Book is a definite must have for all tennis fans out there. It covers just about everything imaginable about the game from the past players, the tournaments, the Grand Slams, the Davis Cup and today’s tennis stars. Packed full of interesting facts, figures and trivia this Book will keep you coming back to it time after time to learn more about the game.

TENNIS has hit the headlines again following Andy Murray's exploits at Wimbledon last week.
But how much do you really know about the sport?
The Border Telegraph has teamed up with leading book publishers Apex Publishing Ltd to give away three free copies of The Tennis Quiz Book (normally priced at £7.99).
This 200-page book, written by John DT White, contains more than 1500 questions on tennis and is designed to challenge even the most ardent fan¹s knowledge of the game to its limit.
Whatever your interest in the sport, this book is bound to stir up fond memories of many of the tennis greats and nail-biting matches that have crowded the sport's history, and it is as much a valuable source of facts and figures as it is an entertaining and challenging quiz book.
But don¹t get over confident if you seem to be serving a few aces and blasting back winners in the earlier sections, as you may find yourself serving double faults and hitting the net as you foot-fault your way through the final experts segment.
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning a copy is answer the following question: Who knocked Andy Murray out of the Men's Singles competition at Wimbledon last week? Was it (a) Roger Federer (b) Rafael Nadal or (c) John McEnroe?
Send your answers to amcgilvray@bordertelegraph.com or post them to The Tennis Quiz Book Competition, Border Telegraph, 113 Channel Street, Galashiels, TD1 1BN. Remember to add your name, address, postcode and daytime telephone number.
Normal rules apply and the editor's decision is final. Closing date for entries is next Wednesday, July 16.

This is a very well written and comprehensive book concentrating on the magnificent game of tennis, both about the players themselves and the tournaments in which they play. There are 1,500 questions ranging in difficulty from fairly basic common knowledge to hardcore trivia and no matter how well you think you know the sport you’re bound to be well and truly aced by some of the questions; this goes to show just how much effort and hard work John put into compiling this remarkable book, he is clearly a tennis fan and has written this book with tennis fans in mind, that said it will make an invaluable reference for anyone planning a good old pub quiz night!
